Coach in Training Program (CIT)
Discover Your Future as a Coach
Are you passionate about working with kids, learning new skills, and making a positive impact? Pinnacle Gymnastics' Coach in Training (CIT) Program is designed for motivated teens who want to learn what it takes to become an exceptional gymnastics coach.
Our CIT Program is a volunteer leadership opportunity for youth ages 12–15. Whether you've been involved in gymnastics for years or have never stepped into a gym, you can apply. No gymnastics experience is required—just a willingness to learn, grow, and inspire others.
Who Can Apply?
Our Coach in Training Program is open to:
- Teens 12–15 years old
- Individuals interested in coaching and mentoring children
- Future teachers, coaches, or leaders
- Students looking to gain volunteer experience
- Anyone eager to build confidence, responsibility, and leadership skills
- Applications received by August 15th will be eligible for our school year CIT program running September-May
- Applications received after August 16th will be processed as space in the program is available.
No current enrollment at Pinnacle or gymnastics experience is necessary.

- Building meaningful relationships with young athletes

- Adapting your coaching style to meet each child's individual needs

Learn the Art of Coaching
Our mentors will teach you how to:
- Safely assist athletes through skill progressions
- Teach gymnastics using age-appropriate progressions
- Modify activities for different learning styles and ability levels
- Create fun, engaging, and encouraging class environments
Develop a Growth Mindset
The same values we teach our athletes are woven throughout our Coach in Training Program.
You'll learn how to model and promote:
- Excellence over perfection
- Resilience through challenges
- Kindness toward others
- Confidence in yourself and your athletes
- A lifelong growth mindset
These lessons are practiced through real coaching experiences and are valued throughout our entire coaching team.
Build Your Future
Many of our current coaches began as Coach in Training volunteers.
The CIT Program serves as an excellent stepping stone for:
- Future employment at Pinnacle
- High school leadership opportunities
- College applications and resumes
- Careers in education, coaching, healthcare, or youth development
The skills and experience you gain will benefit you long after your time in the program.
Expectations of a Coach in Training
Being a Coach in Training is a commitment to learning and leading by example. Participants are expected to:
Be Prepared
- Arrive at least 10 minutes before your scheduled class
- Wear appropriate coaching attire
- Come ready to learn with a positive attitude
Communicate Professionally
- Notify your mentor of any absences or late arrivals
- Ask questions whenever you need guidance
- Accept and provide constructive feedback
Connect With Athletes
Great coaching starts with building relationships.
Coach in Training participants are encouraged to:
- Learn every athlete's name
- Understand each child's personality and strengths
- Encourage athletes through positive interactions
- Help create a welcoming and supportive environment
Learn the Coaching Process
Throughout the program, you'll gain experience with many of the daily responsibilities of a coach, including:
- Taking attendance
- Assisting with student evaluations
- Supporting class instruction
- Completing cleaning responsibilities at the beginning of each shift
- Helping maintain a safe and organized gym environment
