Dance classes are offered beginning at 18 months and up! Dance classes are only located at our Kansas City location. Preschool students will participate in combination classes, introducing students to a variety of dance styles and techniques. Older students will have the opportunity to focus on one style of dance per class. Participate in back-to-back classes to maximize your student's time at the studio. Students in dance classes learn to follow directions, take turns, and express themselves in a healthy way.
Combination classes are offered for ages 18 months - 6 years old. They are the perfect way to introduce your young dancer to a variety of styles. View the dress code for combination classes here.
PreK Dance - Tap & Ballet Combo 2-3 OR 3-4 (30 minutes)
This combo class is the perfect exposure to two classic dance styles: tap and ballet. During this 30-minute class, dancers will learn to move in their tap shoes and create sounds. Also, dancers will be introduced to ballet terminology, technique, and ballet positions.

This combo class is the perfect exposure to two classic dance styles: tap and ballet. During this 45-minute class, dancers will learn to move in their tap shoes and basic tap technique. Also, dancers will be introduced to ballet terminology, technique, and ballet positions.
Jazz & Ballet Combo 5-6 (45 minutes)
This 45-minute combo class is great exposure to two dance styles: jazz and ballet. During the ballet portion, dancers are introduced to ballet terminology, technique, and ballet positions. During the jazz portion, dancers focus on jazz technique including kicks, turns, and more! This class is perfect for those new to dance.
Ballet 1 (ages 5-7) (30 minutes)
As the foundation for most dance styles, Ballet 1 will introduce students to ballet technique, proper body alignment, placement, and terminology. Elements of this class include warm up or barre work, across the floor movement, and center work. Focus will be placed on counting music, memorization, and choreography.
Jazz 1 (ages 5-7) (30 minutes)
This beginner class will introduce students ages 5-7 to basic jazz technique. Mixing funky moves with ballet technique, this fast-paced style will get students moving and grooving. Dancers will spend 30-minutes focusing on jazz technique such as kicks, turns, and more!
Hip Hop 1 (ages 5-7) (30 minutes)
Hip hop is a fun, up-beat style of dance. Dancers will learn to show off their personality and express themselves in this high energy class. Focus is on musicality and performance quality.
Tap 1 (ages 5-7) (30 minutes)
Tap is a rhythmic style of dance where dancers use footwork to create music. This class will teach dancers tap technique and how to use their shoes to create sounds. Focus will be on rhythm, counting music, memorization, and choreography.
Ballet 2 (ages 7-9) (30 minutes)
This class will build and expand on basic ballet fundamentals. Barre exercises will focus on strengthening and stretching feet, ankles, legs, and core. More focus will be placed on center work including jumps, leaps, and turns.
Jazz 2 (ages 7-9) (30 minutes)
This class will build on basic jazz fundamentals. Dancers will focus on more stylized movements, counting their music, and technique, such as leaps, kicks, turns, and more!
Hip Hop 2 (ages 7-9) (30 minutes)
Hip hop is a fun, up-beat style of dance. Dancers will learn to show off their personality and express themselves in this high energy class. Focus is on musicality and performance quality.
Tap 2/3 (ages 7-9) (30 minutes)
Tap is a rhythmic style of dance that requires not just knowing the steps, but how to properly use your shoes to create the correct sounds. This class will continue to push and challenge dancers in their tap technique. Focus will also be on performance quality.
Ballet 3 (ages 9-12) (30 minutes)
This class will expand on the concepts learned in Ballet 1 and Ballet 2. Barre and center work will be more advanced with focus on performance quality and character work.
Jazz 3 (ages 9-12) (30 minutes)
This class is great for students who have a solid foundation in jazz technique. Elements of this class include a warm up, flexibility training, kicks, leaps across the floor, and different types of turns.
Hip Hop 3 (ages 9-12) (30 minutes)
Hip Hop is a fun, up-beat style of dance. Elements of this class include dance combinations that keep up with the latest trends and technique. Dancers will be encouraged to express themselves and also bring their own personalities to their performance.
Jazz & Hip Hop Teen (12+) (45 minutes)
This combo class includes elements of jazz and hip hop. Elements of the jazz portion include a warm up, flexibility training, kicks, leaps across the floor, and different types of turns. The hip hop portion will include dance combinations that keep up with the latest trends and technique. Dancers will be encouraged to express themselves and also bring their own personalities to their performance.
Pre-Pointe & Pointe (45 minutes)
Pointe is a technique in ballet that requires more advanced skills. Dancers must be at least 12 years old and be enrolled in an additional ballet class in order to take this class. Pre-pointe dancers do not need to purchase pointe shoes. Dancers will build strength through barre work in preparation for pointe shoes and center work. Dancers must receive teacher approval to purchase pointe shoes.
Pinnacle Kansas City offers multiple competitive dance teams including: Mini Company, Junior Company, Senior Company, Elite Company and Hip Hop Crew (Junior, Senior, Elite). Tryouts take place each June.
